Why NOT Political statements?
Jesus was NOT political. He was individually transformational.
In the face of Roman oppression, our Lord said to turn the other cheek, to go the extra mile, to give up your cloak, to give unto Caesar. He healed the Centurion’s child. He redeemed tax collectors. He paid His tax without complaint, from the mouth of a fish. Ultimately he was tortured and died at the hands of the Romans, without a word. Instead, he transformed the hearts and minds of everyone he met to think less about themselves and more about what they themselves could do for others. MORE WALK. LESS TALK. Loving and caring is the work and relevancy of the church. If our complaints fall along party lines, with the endorsement of abortion or cutting social services for the vulnerable we need to check the logs in our eyes. Rather, let’s be the relevant church and do what we’re asked to do: be transformed to the point where we give our lives as an offering.
